Thank you so much! What fun to see The Peppermint Lounge program, menu, etc. I can't believe you still have it. Your boxes in the attic must be a treasure chest of memorabelia. I think all I have left are yearbooks.
I would like to know who remembers what we did to entertain the senoirs. And I want to know "Where was Jack Petty?"

Thanks for your comment. As always, it is a pleasure to read what you have to share with us. I wish I could take credit for the long ago program but this was provided by Jennifer. I do believe that she has a remarkable stash of memorabilia! In my memory box, I do have quite a bit of "stuff" from the past as I stated earlier, but in my purge mode I have finally thrown away my crown from being the May Day Queen at James Bickley Elementary in Clovis when I was in the third grade. I do have a few more treasures to share and then they too will be discarded. I figure that when I get them digitized I can feel good about letting them go.
I look forward to hearing from others who share our memories.

So glad you enjoyed the program ... which serves as prima facie evidence that I am the uber pack rat. Unfortunately, I am not nearly as well organized as Nicki, or even your usual pack rat of the rodent variety, so I end up pulling down various boxes and opening various trunks and pulling out various troves of "stuff" from diverse places to see what lurks ... er, waits ... therein. Yahn has been remarkably tolerant of this. Would you believe that I have a paper napkin (!) from one of our eighth grade graduation parties, signed by all the girls who were there ... not only my beloved N-9, but also Clara, Pat Harmon, Kay Ann and some others. Takes "pack rat" to a whole new level!!!!
As for Jacky Petty, I know that he was there (at the Peppermint Lounge), dancing with Paula (yes, they were doing the Twist, among other other dances), as I mentioned in my memorial to her ... and I have the VHS tape to prove it!
As best I recall, the theme of the Junior-Senior Banquet our senior year was "Mardi Gras", although I have yet to find any "proof" thereof, and may have to stand corrected if someone has a better memory or more junk than I.
Happy New Year 5768 (the Jewish new year, Rosh Hashanah, begins at sundown). Apples and honey to all, so that the new year will be sweet.

I do have proof of the Mardi Gras theme which I had totally forgotten until I found pictures of the decorations in my "memory box". I was shocked to find out that Jim and I were the King and Queen of that event as I had no recall of that. Jim did remember. I do have pictures. I am going to post the pictures I have and maybe that will remind some of us of other things that transpired.

Oh yes, my older brother told me today that he has pictures of me and some of my friends from that time. I can't wait to see them.
Like most dedicated pack rats, I do occasionally stumble across a treasure or two amidst the dreck. Yesterday, I found something REALLY GOOD, which I intend to share, in increments, in future posts. I'll wait until the first such post to say just what the "treasure" is.
For now, I'll just say that one nugget was "hard (tangible) proof" of the "Mardi Gras" theme of the Junior-Senior Banquet in 1963.
"Mardi Gras" was held on May 10, as usual at the Childress City Auditorium. The entrance was through a huge mask constructed around the doorway. The stage decoration focused on a royal balcony with ivy streaming from it. As we entered, glancing left to right, we saw a sidewalk cafe setting, with colorful awnings stretching over the tables. (See the pictures Nicki has posted to help with the visualization. If any of you have any pictures of the event, please share them with us by sending them to Nicki for inclusion in the blog.)
Carnival colored (purple, green, gold) fabric covered the walls, and bright, glittering stars hung from the ceiling.
Bobby Meason (CHS 1964) gave the welcome, which was answered by Quentin Henderson, our class President. Julia Hampton performed "Come to the Mardi Gras" and then a dance number was performed by Linda Rowland, Gay Morris, Linda DeArmond and Rose Ann Hamilton.
The invitation was given by Jerry Sachse, Junior class President, and Judy Wilson sang "If Ever I Cease to Love."
Of course, the highlight of the evening was the crowning of Queen Nicki and King Jim. All in all, a festive farewell to our years at CHS!
